Une Maison De Pondichery, 2023

15 x 14”
Hand woven, various yarns

Colonial towns were divided: white towns and brown towns. The white towns—built for colonists—were spacious, carefully planned, lined with trees. The brown towns were the opposite: crowded, littered, neglected. In Pondicherry, what lies beyond these French maisons? Is it only the flowers cascading over the walls—or the fragments of bloodied histories waiting to be unearthed?
